Southeast University, Wuxi Branch was founded in April 1988. It is one of the first batch of key universities approved by the former State Education Commission, and is a high-level training and technological innovation base built by Southeast University and Wuxi municipal government.

The Wuxi branch is located at the scenic Wuxi High-tech Zone National Sensor Network University Science Park, and covers 200 acres. The branch has promoted the large-scale cultivation of postgraduates in Wuxi since the introduction of the national talent training base for integrated circuits into Wuxi in 2009. It also forms a pattern of equal emphasis on undergraduate and postgraduate education, which gradually develops into postgraduate education.

The Branch adheres to the idea of combination of cultivation and construction and to that effect, has gradually established various types of scientific research platforms. So far, it has completed the construction of Wuxi Key Laboratory of Bio-chip, the National ASIC System Engineering Technology Research Center (Wuxi), Southeast University Sensor Network Technology Research Center and Wuxi Taihu Lake Water Environmental Engineering Research Center. It has also gained approval from Jiangsu Key Laboratory of Sensor Network Technology and Sensor Network Technology, the Ministry of Education Engineering Research Center.

The university promotes the school-enterprise cooperation and has strived to build an innovation and research combined pattern which sets technological research as the guide, uses transformation of scientific and technological achievements as the connection, aims at independent innovations, and eventually realizes the commercialization of products. Wuxi Ji-sheng Photonics Technology Co Ltd, Wuxi Jade Perception Technology Co Ltd, Wuxi Meili Technology Co Ltd, Wuxi Aiji Biological Technology Co Ltd, Wuxi Dongji Co Ltd, and Wuxi Ke Sheng Photon Technology Co, have been established successively through this cooperation.

In line with keeping abreast with the world, the branch fully highlights the advantages of Southeast University's disciplines and scientific research according to the strategic needs of Wuxi's development, adheres to the principle of providing service for Wuxi's development, promotes the cooperation between government, industry and university, and focuses on the high level training, high level scientific research and high-tech achievements transformation base construction.
