Wuxi---the cradle of microelectronics industry

Early in the 1980s, Wuxi was identified as the southern base of China's microelectronics industry. After more than thirty years of development, the overall size of the integrated circuit industry in Wuxi has occupied one fifth in the country's total, making it rank second in the country.

Wuxi New District (WND) is the most conducive area in Wuxi for the development of integrated circuit industry. The industrial scale accounts for more than 70 percent in this city. Moreover, it has formed a pattern of industrial cluster, which includes the integrated circuit design industry, manufacturing industry, packaging and testing industry and support industry. In terms of total industrial output, design and processing technology level, and attracting professional talent, the new district ranks first in the development pace of the microelectronics industry in China.

At present, the new district has a total of more than 20 enterprises in integrated circuit manufacturing industry and more than 60 enterprises in integrated circuit design, both of which employ in excess of 30,000 people.

Three major professional parks in WND---microelectronics industry operating carrier

WND is one of the eight major integrated circuit design industrialization bases approved by the State Ministry of Science and Technology. The microelectronics industry operating carrier includes three professional parks---the National Integrated Circuit Design Park, the Information Industry Science and Technology Park and Integrated Circuit Industry Park. In recent years, not only did Wuxi New District develop well in the field of integrated circuit design, but it also made a breakthrough in the development of wafer fabrication. At present, the Integrated Circuit Industrial Park has brought together a large number of electronic information enterprises, including large technology companies from abroad and local leading enterprises in China.
